Livable Housing Australia (LHA) is a not-for-profit organisation established to promote the benefits of Livable housing design to the residential design and construction industry. LHA is a partnership between industry, community and consumer groups and governments. A Home designed under the Livable Housing Guidelines incorporates key features that aim to make a dwelling easier and safer to live in for all occupants including people with disability, ageing population, people with temporary injuries and families with young children.
The Livable Housing Guidelines describe 15 living design elements. The performance levels can be applied to all newly built and renovated detached and semi-detached houses, terraces and townhouses and apartment dwellings.
The Livable Housing Design Quality Mark is issued subject to accreditation of your building project by LHA. Your project can be certified by LHA to Silver, Gold or Platinum Status. Assessment can be done at the design and as-built stages of the development. Most NDIS Specialist Disability Accomodations require compliance with either Silver or Platinum level of LHA guidelines.
